Exclusive | Rapper targeted in Stockton mass shooting is hiding out, fearing for his life after being shot at little girls’ birthday party

STOCKTON — A rapper targeted in the deadly birthday party mass shooting that left three kids dead is hiding out and fearing for his life after he and his wife were both wounded, his dad says.
Rapper MBnel was among the 15 shot at a birthday party for a friend’s 2-year-old daughter inside Monkey Space, a banquet hall in Stockton on Saturday evening, his father Junior Dongon told The Post.
MBnel, real name Johnel Dongon, had previously fled Stockton and was living outside Sacramento.
He had returned to the crime-ridden city of 300,000 people to meet with his fellow rapper pals at the birthday party, his dad said.
“He just came to drop off a present at his friend’s party, whose daughter was the celebrant,” Junior Dongon said.
“He was shot, but he is OK. … He called me and said, ‘Don’t say anything to anybody,” he continued.
The Stockton-based rapper moved out of the area two years ago because he feared for his safety, including an incident where other thugs “shot 22 bullets” at his parents’ house a few years ago, Dongon recalled.
“My daughter-in-law was hit in the butt,” Dongon continued. “We are worried. I’m worried about my wife, but I can’t do anything about it.”
Three children and one young adult were killed in the shooting, which Stockton Mayor Christina Fugazi said was related to gang violence.
