FDNY firefighter Patrick Brady killed battling five-alarm blaze in Brooklyn



An FDNY firefighter was tragically killed while battling a five-alarm blaze in Brooklyn Saturday night, officials said.

Firefighter Patrick Brady died while responding to the inferno that erupted in a 6-story apartment building on Kings Highway in Brownsville, Mayor Eric Adams and fire officials announced at a press conference late Saturday at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn.

“He gave his life protecting this city that he loves and there is no sacrifice that is more selfless than the actions that took place this evening,” Adams said of the fallen Queens man.

“I want to express my deepest sympathy for Ms. Brady, his wife, and his family. This is a firefighter family. They have been dedicated to protecting the lives of New Yorkers. We will all cherish Patrick’s memory. We realize how painful this is for the family and for the people of this city.”

Fire officials said Brady’s death marks the second Bravest line-of-duty loss in just two weeks.
