A Texas woman arrested in connection with her boyfriend’s death allegedly gave police a “video” to prove she was innocent — but police claim it actually bolsters the case of law enforcement.

Authorities responding to a report of a shooting at a Bexar County, Texas, residence on Wednesday, Dec. 24, found a 42-year-old unresponsive man, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said at a press briefing.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene after police attempted life-saving measures.

Authorities arrested 36-year-old Courtney Renee Hooper in connection with his death.

The identity of the man has not been publicly released.

Investigators learned the man and the woman, who were in a dating relationship, got into an argument about a cell phone and car that “escalated to the point of shooting,” the sheriff said at Wednesday’s press conference.

Hooper allegedly provided police with a video claiming that it would “exonerate” her, according to the sheriff — but he said it only hurt her case.

“In reality, after watching that video, it just seemed like that made her seem even more guilty,” he alleged, adding that it “showed at least some of the disturbance that led to this murder.”

Authorities say there were children present in the residence during the shooting but did not disclose their ages or their relationship to either the victim or the suspect.

There have been several calls to the residence in the past on alleged domestic-related disturbances, the sheriff said.
