Kelly Dodd defends threatening voicemail to daughter Jolie, insists there’s more to the story

Kelly Dodd is defending threats she made against her daughter, Jolie Dodd, in a leaked voicemail, insisting there’s more to the story.
Last week, the “Real Housewives of Orange County” alum, 50, went viral for a voicemail she left with Jolie’s friend that ended up on social media.
In it, Kelly threatened to release damning “recordings” of Jolie, 19, whom she called a “dumb little girl” with “mental illness.”
Kelly responded to the leaked voicemail with two selfie-style videos. In one of them, which she posted on TikTok, she admitted to “screaming” at Jolie via the voicemail left with her friend after an alleged incident on the Fourth of July.
According to Kelly, multiple people witnessed the mother-daughter “situation,” which happened “months and months ago.”
But many commenters pointed out that it “doesn’t matter when it happened. It still happened.”
In a separate Instagram video, the former Bravolebrity told her followers that they “are going to die” when they “learn the truth” after she is able to tell “the whole story.”
“I am going to reveal everything,” she vowed, adding in her caption, “The truth will knock your socks off. Just remember when you hear others popping off, spreading false information and damaging innuendo against me, consider the source and their agenda.”
Again, netizens were quick to weigh in, with one of them writing, “I don’t think anyone wants you to. I think they want you to fix your relationship with your daughter in private.”
Kelly’s husband, Rick Leventhal, then took to his own Instagram page to share a graphic that many felt had threatening undertones.
“In California, it is illegal for the recipient of a private voicemail to share it on social media without the sender’s consent, as California is an ‘all-party consent’ state for confidential communications,” the message read.
“The person who shared the voicemail could face criminal penalties, including fines and jail time, and a civil lawsuit.”
The former Fox News anchor, 65, captioned the post, “FYI…”
Critics were quick to question the journalist’s “ethics,” encouraging him to “not fight with [his step]children online]” and “take the high road.”
Meanwhile, Kelly’s estranged brother Eric Meza — who claimed in August that Jolie had “disowned” her mom — also reacted to the leaked voicemail.
He uploaded his own Instagram video in which he accused his sister of “projecting” onto Jolie.
“You can see the demonic entity coming out, spewing out of her mouth. It’s evident that everybody can see that she has a black heart,” he argued, calling it “incomprehensible” that Kelly would speak to her daughter that way.
He branded the behavior as “emotional” and “mental abuse,” claiming, “She’s got some serious problems. She’s the one that has serious mental illness. It’s not Jolie, obviously.”
Meza made sure to add, “Most importantly, Jolie is loved by my mother and I, her dad [Michael Dodd] and her family members — my niece, nephew, my brother.”
Reps for Jolie did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment. However, a source close to her told us she did not authorize the release of the voicemail.
