Cass Casperson doesn’t think being a stay-at-home mom is hard — and yes, he knows that’s a somewhat controversial take.
The stay-at-home dad shared his opinion in a now-viral video on TikTok, where he explained that he works from home and cares for his 12-month-old baby daughter. “To all the stay-at-home moms, I feel like you’re lying,” he begins his video.
“Because of what I get to do for work, I can still stay home and pay all the bills. And my wife will have to go to work to make her own money. And I have a 1-year-old daughter,” Casperson continues. ” So I’ll stay at home, and I’ll take care of my daughter.”
“And while I’m taking care of my 1-year-old daughter, I can give her three meals a day, change her on time, get her and do her naps, play time, arts and crafts time, and still make sure the entire place is clean,” he says. “And I can clean the whole apartment while watching her before 12 or 1 o’clock.”

“Yes, I know an apartment is different than a home, but I have a 23 square foot apartment, so it’s not tiny. But I do know that I can be ignorant to a lot of people’s situations, so can someone please tell me when does being a stay-at-home mom become hard?”
In his caption, Casperson poked fun at the fact that his opinion might not be a popular one. “Is this how people get canceled,” he asked.
Now, Casperson is doubling down on his take while speaking with PEOPLE about his video.
“I have not changed my mind, and I still believe being a stay-at-home parent is easy,” he tells PEOPLE. “I now believe that there are many parents who are struggling with their life as a stay-at-home parent and want to be heard and validated.”
“However, I would challenge the majority to look at the variables of their life and identify where the actual struggles are coming from,” continues Casperson. “I want to say I appreciate my mother, and all other mothers who are making it work despite their struggles.”
“It seems the majority of people interacting with my post are women who want to be heard and validated, and if I could, I would listen to them all and let them know the effort they’re putting in is worth it.”
