A couple of co-workers in Chicago captured a heated road rage incident — which involved an ax — on camera.
Real estate agents Tom Cunningham and Ewelina Siuta were leaving a listing when they witnessed a fender bender between two men turn into a wild physical fight that involved an axe, they told CBS News Chicago on Tuesday, Dec. 16.
“This is insane. I thought it was a Laurel and Hardy movie, honestly. Unfortunately, it was real,” Cunningham told the news station of the Monday, Dec. 15 incident.
The pair had just come from a listing when they spotted the two men in an altercation. Cunningham was behind the wheel, and Siuta pulled her phone out to record.
“The pickup truck was tailgating the white car, and eventually the guy from the pickup truck gets out, pretends he has a gun, and starts screaming at the guy in the white car,” Siuta told CBS News Chicago.
She added that the white car then reversed into the pickup truck, prompting that driver to get out and confront the other driver.
A video she shared with CBS News Chicago showed an unidentified male striking the driver’s side window of the white vehicle. Although there was nothing directly in front of the white car, multiple vehicles behind the arguing men, including a school bus, came to a standstill.
Cunningham can be heard off-camera in the clip telling police about an altercation on Archer and Meade.
“There’s an accident here. The guy’s out of his car, one’s in his car. There’s a huge fight going on,” he said.
The video cut to moments later, showing the driver of the pickup truck once again approaching the white car, holding something, soon realizing it was an axe.
“Oh, he just hit his car!” Cunningham yelled after the white car sped off, only to rear-end the pickup truck. The car’s airbags deployed, and the driver of that vehicle got out of his car, and while the other driver was still standing in the street, wielding his axe, the driver of the white car got into the pickup truck.
The pickup truck driver rushed back to his vehicle, grabbing the other individual through the window as the pair began to physically fight in the driver’s seat.
Eventually, the driver of the white car, sped off in the other man’s pickup truck.

“He took off, crashed it, and then got back out and continued fighting the guy,” Siuta said.
She added that Cunningham wanted to get out of their car and try to stop the fight, but she advised him against getting involved: “I’m like, ‘Yeah, Tom, not a good idea. Just stay in the car.’ ”
Police said they responded to a report of criminal damage to a vehicle and aggravated battery, but did not say whether or not any arrests were made, according to the news station.
