Millie Bobby Brown ‘felt safe’ working with David Harbour on ‘Stranger Things’ despite bullying claims
Millie Bobby Brown said she “felt safe” working with David Harbour on the set of “Stranger Things” despite reported claims of on-set bullying.
Brown opened up about filming “intense” scenes with the actor, saying, “Of course I felt safe, I mean, we’ve worked together for 10 years. I feel safe with everyone on that set.”
“You naturally just… you know, you’ve been doing it for so long. We also play father and daughter so naturally, we have a closer bond than the rest because we have had some really intense scenes together, especially in Season 2,” she further told Deadline in an interview published Friday.
“David and I have a great relationship, we work really closely together in the scenes and preparing for the scenes and I really am excited to see — for everyone to see the labor of love and hard work we’ve put into the closure of our relationship and what that looks like,” the 21-year-old actress continued, referencing the fifth and final season that premiered on Netflix Wednesday.
“Especially the Hopper and Eleven fans. Those scenes that I feel, I think, are going to be quite impactful. I love it. It makes me want to bring my A game every single time I see that I’m on the call sheet working with him because I know he’s bringing it right back.”
Brown’s new comments on her relationship with Harbour come weeks after it was reported the “Enola Holmes” star filed a bullying and harassment claim against Harbour, 50, before filming Season 5 of the Netflix series in early 2024.
“There were pages and pages of accusations,” an insider told the Daily Mail earlier this month, although they clarified that the “Black Widow” star had not been accused of any sexual impropriety. “The investigation went on for months.”
Sources also claimed that Brown was allegedly accompanied to the set by a rep while shooting the Netflix series’ finale – but executive producer Shawn Levy later told THR that he had seen some “wildly inaccurate” reports regarding the scandal.
“You have to create a respectful workplace where everyone feels comfortable and safe,” he noted.
“So we did everything to build that environment, and we’re proud of the fact that we did so.”
Following their appearance together at the show’s world premiere on Nov. 6, Brown and Harbour were asked about the importance of showing a united front, to which Millie said, “We’ve been doing that for the last 10 years.”
“I mean, we have always been united in that. We love this show with everything, and we value our friendship more than anything,” she added.
