A student critically wounded in the shooting at Brown University on Dec. 13 has been identified by her alma mater.
The Durham Academy in North Carolina named Kendall Turner as one of the nine victims wounded in the attack in an email sent to staff and obtained by PEOPLE.
“Her family has informed us that she is currently in critical but stable condition and is receiving care at a local hospital. Her parents are with her. We hope for her continued strength and recovery,” wrote head of school Michael Ulku-Steiner.
The school offered up “thoughts and prayers” to Turner and her family, along with the other victims of the deadly mass shooting.
“Our school community is rallying around Kendall, her classmates, and her loved ones, and we will continue to offer our full support in the days ahead,” Ulku-Steiner added.

The attack happened at around 4 p.m. on the afternoon of Dec. 13, when a lone gunman entered a building on the school’s campus and opened fire in a hallway.
He quickly moved into a lecture hall where approximately 60 students had just finished a two-hour prep session ahead of their upcoming economics exam.
The shooter made an unintelligible comment, according to multiple individuals who were in the hall, and then started firing his rifle.
In the end, at least two people were killed and nine more wounded in the attack. One of the wounded individuals remains in critical condition as of Monday morning, according to Providence Mayor Brett Smiley.

The two victims killed in the shooting have been identified by family members as Ella Cook and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov.
The killer managed to exit the building and flee the scene without being apprehended, and officials have been unsuccessful in finding video footage showing the face of the person.
A video was released to the public a few hours after the shooting which shows an individual police are calling a person of interest in the case quickly walking away from the scene.
That video shows the person from behind, and dressed entirely in black.

An individual initially identified as a person of interest was taken into custody on Dec. 14 after FBI agents tracked him down to a hotel room in Coventry, a town located approximately 20 miles south of Providence.
Officials released that individual from custody later that same day, Attorney General Peter F. Neronha announced at a news conference, saying: “It’s fair to say that there is no basis to consider him a person of interest, so that’s why he’s being released.”
Police are now canvassing the area around the school looking to obtain video footage from home owners in the area.
Brown University announced that they would be sending all students home for winter break in the wake of the shooting and cancelled all upcoming exams.
Mayor Smiley said that it is not known if the shooter is still in the city or state at this time.
A teacher at a public school located less than a mile from the site of the shooting tells PEOPLE that classes were not cancelled on Monday, but there was a heightened police presence.
