Corey Feldman Shares The Role He Was Grateful Got Cut

Corey Feldman is sharing the one role he’s grateful never actually made it to movie theaters – because he was cut from the film before its release.

The actor, 54, spoke to Tori Spelling on her misSPELLING podcast on Wednesday, Nov. 26, sharing that he was approached about a role in Wes Craven’s 2005 horror-comedy Cursed.

“[Craven] told me how he had this brilliant role for me. He kind of punked me, is kind of what — I guess what the point is,” Feldman said, adding, “Yeah. I got punked by Wes Craven. It’s true.”

According to Feldman, Craven called his management and said, “I gotta work with Corey. I’m a huge fan of Corey. I love his work. I gotta work with him.”

Feldman said he then met with Craven, who told him, “I’m a huge fan of your work. I want to give you a role that you can really sink your teeth into. You’ve been far [too long], you know, kind of ignored and underused in this business.”

The actor added that Craven then said his team was working on the script and would have it in a few months’ time.

“And I get delivered the script. And it’s one line, playing myself, in this scene with Shannon Elizabeth, where she’s like, ‘Oh my god. Isn’t that Corey Feldman? Like, I forgot [about] him,’ or something,” Feldman said. “They got, like, some really nasty line, and I’m just like, ‘Are you serious? This is what you want me to do?'”

Despite it feeling “humiliating,” Feldman said he ultimately took the role.

“I agreed to do it because I turned it down four times and they kept coming back at me with so much money that eventually, they made me an offer for so much money that I couldn’t refuse,” he said.

He then filmed the scene in “a day or two,” noting, “They were very professional and very nice to me. But the scene was awful. And I was so humiliated.”

“And I was like, ‘I don’t want to be here. I don’t want to do this. I can’t believe I’m doing it.’ But I really needed the money. So I did it anyway,” he said, adding, “But the bottom line is I, you know, I sold out and I did something that I shouldn’t have done and I was very upset about it.”

After filming the role, Feldman said he was “dreading” the movie being released.

“And then all of a sudden, the production reports came up and it was like, ‘Wes Craven’s new movie, Cursed, is totally cursed.’ It’s got so many problems. It’s so stricken with bad acting, bad script, bad this, bad that, that they had to completely scratch the project — almost completely — and reshoot like 70% of the film,” Feldman said, adding that his cameo was ultimately cut.

“But I was very grateful for my part getting cut because it was like, yes: I got the payday. Didn’t get the humiliation. Thank you. Yeah. It was beautiful,” he said.
