Reba McEntire corrects Savannah Guthrie over ‘husband’ Rex Linnn live on air: ‘Wait a minute’

The wedding bells are premature.
During Monday’s episode of “Today,” Reba McEntire, 70, corrected co-anchor Savannah Guthrie on live TV for incorrectly referring to the country singer’s relationship status with actor Rex Linn.
“You also met your husband there. So Rex, good ole Rex…” said Guthrie, 53.
The “Heart Won’t Lie” singer interrupted the anchor to say, “Now, wait a minute. Before everybody has a conniption fit at home, we’re just engaged.”
Guthrie apologized for the error.
“The Voice” coach said that she had to correct it, otherwise, “My family will go, ‘Wait, you didn’t tell us?!’ ”
McEntire was promoting the NBC sitcom “Happy’s Place,” which Linn is also in. Now in Season 2, the show is about a woman (played by McEntire) who inherits a bar after her dad’s death, and finds out that she has a secret half-sister who also co-owns it (played by Belissa Escobedo).
Linn, 69, was in the studio supporting McEntire during the interview. The camera cut to the actor, and he looked bewildered about the “husband” mistake, before he smiled.
McEntire said that working alongside her fiancé is a “blast.”
“He is a workaholic, and he loves to rehearse,” the “You Lie” singer said.
She added, “Me, not so much on the rehearsal part, so he really makes sure that I know my lines, that I’m ready to go when we have a tape day. We have a blast. We’re so grateful and thankful that we get to go to work together, work together, and then go home together.”
McEntire was married to Charles Battles from 1976 to 1987. Her second husband was Narvel Blackstock, from 1989 to 2015, which whom she had her one son, race car driver Shelby Blackstock, 35.
Through that marriage, she was also the stepmother of Kelly Clarkson’s late ex husband, Brandon Blackstock, who died of cancer at 48 in August.
During her time on “Today,” McEntire also confirmed that she and Linn got engaged in Dec. 2024.
She said, “A lot of people did not know. And when he asked me to marry him, it was Christmas Eve a year ago. So we were gonna announce it when we got back to L.A., but the fires happened. And there was not room for our joy in devastating situation that everybody else was in.”
Although they waited to share the news, she said that when she was interviewed at the Emmys and a reporter called him her “fiancé” McEntire “didn’t correct her” because it “sounded good to me.”
