- A person who identified himself as “Joseph” phoned into the radio show Elliot in the Morning on Nov. 21 to say he found human remains at a campsite in Maryland

- The Frederick Police Department confirmed the remains were found in a wooded area and no foul play is suspected
Authorities located remains in a wooded area after a tipster called a Washington, D.C., morning radio show claiming he discovered the victim’s body.
The Frederick Police Department said a news release shared on Tuesday, Nov. 25, announced that the remains were found off South East Street and Monocacy Boulevard near a roundabout.
“Responding officers and detectives located the body, which was in an advanced state of decomposition,” police said. “Due to the condition of the remains, a positive identification has not yet been made and that process is underway.”
The update comes days after a man, who called himself “Joseph,” called the DC101 radio show Elliot in the Morning on Friday, Nov. 21, and claimed on the air that he found a dead body at a campsite.
“That was amazing,” Joseph told radio host Elliot Segal during the show, The Washington Post reported. “This may sound sick, but I’ve always wanted to come upon something like that and luckily it was months old, so that was nice.”
An incredulous-sounding Segal asked the caller, “Tell me you called the police?”
“Probably today,” Joseph responded. “I had a dream last night that I called them, so, no, not yet.”
“Dude, call the cops!” Segal told Joseph.
The caller told the show’s hosts at the time that the remains were still at the campsite, saying, “18 days ago, yes.” He added that the remains were in Frederick County, Md.
After Segal pleaded with him to call the authorities, Joseph said he would do so that day.
The Frederick Police Department acknowledged in an earlier statement on Friday that they were aware of the morning radio show call about the remains.
“Detectives from our Criminal Investigations Division responded, located the [deceased] individual, and are now conducting an active investigation. At this time, there is no threat to the public,” authorities said.

In an email to PEOPLE on Tuesday, a spokesperson for the Frederick Police Department said that there have been no arrests, and no one is in custody in connection with the incident.
“The remains were in an advanced state of decomposition and a positive identification has not yet been made. That process is underway through the proper channels,” the spokesperson said.
“Detectives have interviewed the individual who reported the discovery by calling into a radio station. Based on the investigation so far, there is no indication of foul play in this death, and there is no threat to the public,” they added.
