Sara Foster’s daughter sets the bar high.
Despite her lengthy list of titles — writer, producer, fashion entrepreneur, podcast host and Primetime Emmy nominee, to name a few — the multi-hyphenate talent, 44, tells PEOPLE that her eldest daughter sees her as just Mom.
Erin Foster, Sara’s younger sister (by one year), who sat beside her during the interview, immediately deemed her big sis “the cool mom” when asked if they identify with the hip maternal description.

“No,” jokes Sara before telling PEOPLE exclusively why she doesn’t necessarily fit the high honor, according to one of her daughters, Valentina, 14, and Josephine, 9, whom she shares with her ex-partner Tommy Haas.
“My daughter has even said things to me before like, ‘It’s just not fair. It’s just not fair that I don’t have cool parents.’ I’m like, ‘Your parents are kind of cool!’” recalls Sara with a laugh, without specifying which of her two daughters made the claim.

“But her narrative is like, ‘It’s not fair.’ So I don’t know what she’s looking for… Maybe if I was on Love Island, she would respect me more,” jokes Sarah, a self-deprecating diss to her own successes as an accomplished creative in television.
Erin is the creator of Netflix’s smash hit Nobody Wants This, the Emmy-nominated and critically acclaimed series that is inspired by Erin’s real-life love story with her husband, Simon Tikman. Sara serves as a producer.
While the sisters work behind the camera, the subjects at the center of the series are brought to life by characters Joanne (Kristen Bell), an agnostic host of a sex podcast, and rabbi Noah Roklov (Adam Brody), who unexpectedly fall in love.

Following the success of the series debut, Nobody Wants This was greenlit for a season 2 on Netflix. It was released on Oct. 23.
The sisters, who built a brand for their work on Barely Famous — the satirical comedy that ran for two seasons on VH1 in 2015 and 2016 — in a way align with the viewpoint on Sara’s fame themselves when looking back at all they’ve accomplished to date.
I think we’ll always be a little barely famous,” Sara says of her and her sister, a nostalgic reference to the show that started their careers.
“Yeah,” agrees Erin. “We like it like that,” Sara adds.
