Suspect in Texas torture house was once obsessed with making a ‘bed of nails’: grandmother

Maynard Lefevers, one of five alleged sickos charged with torturing a half-naked woman in the backyard of an Austin, Texas, home, was once obsessed with creating a “bed of nails” for himself, his granny told The Post.

Lefevers, 21, collected thumbtacks to create a pin-point bed, which is often used in magic tricks, his paternal grandmother, Frankie Lefevers, revealed.

“When we were speaking the only thing he ever asked me for was thumbtacks for a bed of nails that he would make himself which I thought was strange,” the 64-year-old said.

The granny had been excommunicated from her family for several years and learned from The Post that Maynard was accused of the nauseatingly horribly crimes.

“Oh my God!,” Frankie Lefevers exclaimed Saturday. “I would never expect anything like that from Maynard.”

Frankie Lefevers insisted her grandson was a good kid but his father — her son — is “an a–.”

“Maynard was a really good boy but his dad was not a good role model. He moved in with his girlfriend and just left him,” Lefevers said, adding her son Frank was in the clink when Maynard was born and left Maynard’s mother when the boy was about 12 years old.

Frank Lefevers could not be reached for comment.

Maynard last spoke to his grandmother roughly two years ago.

“Last I ran into Maynard was at Lowes two Christmases ago and I gave him some money,” she said. “Just $20.”

“He was not working. He was mostly fighting with his mom who I no longer have contact with,” she said.

“As much of a hard time that he had I would never expect anything like that from Maynard,” she said.

Maynard was one of five people arrested Oct. 30 by Austin police officers outside the home where an unidentified, injured woman was allegedly handcuffed to a punching bag stand.

That victim, who was found naked from the waist down, said she had been kept in the backyard for weeks and imprisoned at the home for months.

She told cops she was once a frequent visitor and friend of Michelle Garcia, 51, and stated “at some point [the group] decided they no longer liked her,” and instead tortured her, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Austin American-Statesman.

The group would allegedly feed the chained-up woman, who had mental health disorders, one meal a day and shoot BB guns at her at their leisure, according to the outlet.

Carney and Michelle Garcia return to court on Nov. 18 and 21, while Crystal Garcia, Castro and Lefevers are set to appear on Dec. 15.
