Tia Mowry and Tamera Mowry-Housley are weighing in on an age-old holiday decorating debate.
When the holiday season rolls around each year, early decorators tend to receive backlash for putting their Christmas trees and festive decor up before Thanksgiving, but how early is too early to deck the halls?
Twin sisters Tia and Tamera, both 47, have very strong opinions when it comes to decorating their homes with Christmas decorations, they explained in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE tied to their new partnership with HomeGoods.
“I don’t think any time is too early,” Tia says, noting that she welcomes a little sparkle at her house year round. “I have lights in my backyard on my trees, and I have lights in front of my house on my trees. They stay on all year long.”

Agreeing with her sister, Tamera adds, “If you’re an all-year Christmas decorator, go for it. We live once. If it makes you happy, do it.”
The Baked with Love: Holiday host then went on to explain how she’s not afraid to usher in the Christmas spirit at her house before December.
“When I hosted Thanksgiving, I want to say it was two years ago, I added Christmas to it. So, when everyone walked into my house for a Thanksgiving dinner, we had our Christmas trees up,” she recalls.
“It’s an excuse to keep it up longer,” Tia chimes in.
Since the two partnered with HomeGoods for the store’s third annual Deck the Everything Day — which encourages early decorators to start tapping into the holiday spirit right when Nov. 1 hits — the Sister, Sister stars already had an idea of what their holiday decorating styles were going to look like this year.
“I am into “Winter Whimsy,” so it’s all about the icy elegance and the different shades of blues. And I love a good sparkle,” Tia says.
Whereas Tamera is more of an “Evergreen Icon, so it’s more the traditional red and green colors, the plaids,” she explains.

As for how they’re spending the holidays this year, the sisters are excited to reunite and focus on family.
“That’s what I love about the holidays. It’s time when we all can be still and focus on what really matters. Which is family and creating memories,” Tamera tells PEOPLE, adding, “I think what’s so beautiful is, now that we’re older, it’s not just you and I. It’s our children, it’s our kids.”
Tia shares son Cree, 14, and daughter Cairo, 7, with ex-husband Cory Hardrict. Tamera is mom to son Aden, 12, and daughter Ariah, 10, with her husband, Adam Housley, whom she married in 2011.

As the actresses have a big family — they also have two younger brothers, Tahj and Tavior — they explained it’s like a “puzzle” trying to lock in holiday plans with everyone. Tamera is also based in Napa Valley and Tia is in L.A., so the distance adds another layer of difficulty. However, they always find a way to make it work.
“It’s hard with our busy schedules and our different lives to do both Thanksgiving and Christmas. So, if we don’t do Christmas, we’ll do Thanksgiving. If we don’t do Thanksgiving, we do Christmas,” she says.
