Meghan King is celebrating her daughter on her birthday shortly after the former reality star lost custody temporarily of her kids.
On Monday, Nov. 24, King, 41, posted a photo of her daughter Aspen, 9, to her Instagram Stories, adding a sweet message on her daughter’s special day. In the message, King called the birthday girl the “brightest light” and her “greatest joy.”
“My favorite female to ever walk the planet 💫 the brightest light, my greatest joy 💫” she wrote. “A spectacular gift from God was born 9 years ago today. When I learned what love is. I love you Aspen King Edmonds I love you to infinity.”

This tribute comes after the mom of three lost custody temporarily of her children, whom she shares with her ex Jim Edmonds, because she allegedly gave one of the children an ADHD medication they were not prescribed.
A source told PEOPLE exclusively that the decision to remove the children from King’s custody came after King allegedly gave Ritalin to one of her sons multiple times, even though the child had not been prescribed the medication by a doctor. The insider also said that King allegedly asked a school nurse to administer the medication to her son. Page Six was first to report the news.
“She tried to get the nurse to do it, and then somebody from the school called CPS, and they opened an investigation,” the source said.
Following the report from the school employee to Child Protective Services, the source explained that the children’s guardian ad litem, a court-appointed advocate, filed for a temporary restraining order against King.
On Nov. 19, multiple outlets reported that King had temporarily lost custody of her children in recent months, and a source told PEOPLE that the removal came sometime in late October, around Halloween.

Following the removal of the children from her custody, King was granted supervised visitation of their kids, while Edmonds received sole physical custody, according to Us Weekly, who was the first to report the news. The decision is temporary, and a hearing will be held to determine if the custody arrangement will become permanent.
King and Edmonds were married for five years before they split in 2019, and their divorce was finalized two years later in 2021. Edmonds eventually went public with now-wife Kortnie Edmonds in April 2020 and got engaged in July 2021. The two later married in September 2022.
On Nov. 20, King’s former RHOC costar Kelly Dodd shared in a TikTok video that she’d spoken with King, who she described as an “excellent mother,” in the aftermath of losing custody.
“She stayed at my house. I took care of her when she got her boob and her nose done. And I can tell you, she loves those babies,” Dodd said in the video. “She loves those kids. And I know for a fact she’s a good mother. She is an excellent mother.”
