What I’ll remember from covering Mets’ Brandon Nimmo

From the start, Brandon Nimmo was different.

It was the summer of 2011, and Nimmo, a day after waiting until the final 15 minutes or so before the deadline for draft picks to sign, was on a call with reporters to give his initial thoughts on joining the Mets organization.

Nimmo, all of 18 years old — a first-round pick from Cheyenne, Wyo. — sure could talk. And talk.

As the moderator attempted to wrap up the call, Nimmo asked if there was one more thing he could interject. And off he went again, with another spiel, exuding his positive energy.
